Lately I've been buying books!
A lot of books, i guess. i don't know why i suddenly started enjoying reading, but it's a good thing since now i have a better hobby instead of doomscrolling.

Although i did say i wanted to try reading to help me focus and stop doomscrolling, it was hard at first because my mental health has been kind of in shambles. but taking my meds does help me stay focused and less distracted.

Anyway, i don't think i'll read anything too crazy for now. i've just been buying a lot of english classic books and works by classic authors to get started.

i'm also planning to get more non-fiction books to diversify my reading.

Long time no update, but my mom was discharged from the hospital on the 28th, and she’s been improving since then. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, but I’m really hoping it isn’t too serious.

The Epstein files got released, and honestly… I’m not shocked at how vile billionaires are. My deepest condolences to the victims. But I’m genuinely baffled by one detail: apparently Epstein visited the yuri (/u/) board on 4chan??? Like… what???

Also, I haven’t logged into Uma in months. I think it’s because I’ve been hooked on Handora lately, but honestly, the whole “log in just to do daily chores” routine is so tedious. I don’t think I’m built for soshage anymore.

I’m losing it over how Asada Nemui apparently got “cancelled” in Japan over a so-called “misandry” tweet. It’s honestly hilarious. And she wasn’t even wrong—if porn made by men can be full of misogyny, why can’t porn for women have a bit of misandry? The whole thing started because some joyless idiot tried to “well actually” her joke tweet (about not minding playboy-type characters suffering in BL manga) and insinuated she was being malicious. Like… no shit I'd get annoyed too lol.

It’s kind of funny as well, that she got cancelled by both Westerners and Japanese people over the exact same tweet. First Westerners called her misogynist and homophobic because she’s too male-centric and always tortures men, and now Japanese Twitter is calling her misandrist and homophobic too. like wtf?

Honestly, this whole debacle just reminds me there’s a subset of chronically online Japanese wokescolds (porikore) who’ve fully drank western reactionary puritanical kool-aid and get offended by everything. (kind of funny they believe misandry is real), and some are even accusing Asada's as misogyny because they think her latest work is insulting feminist organizations. really insane

On a lighter note, I’ve been playing Pokémon Sun and Moon, and I’ve been downloading a bunch of PS1 and PS2 games because I realized I barely played JRPGs on those consoles. Lately I’ve been downloading a lot of SMT games too.

I also read an article about how younger gamers in Japan might not form the same attachment to Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest, because modern dev cycles last as long as their entire childhood. And like… yeah, no shit. Waiting more than 3 years between entries kills that connection.

This obsession with chasing graphics was such a mistake. Nintendo was right not to go all-in on realism and insane budgets. Square Enix seems addicted to making everything hyper-realistic, and DQ feels like it’s stuck in development hell. Honestly, DQ should just copy Gust or Falcom’s approach and recycle assets—most DQ players don’t care that much about cutting-edge graphics anyway.

I need Xenoblade fans to STOP insisting that Monolith’s fantasy artwork means their next game is some medieval RPG. Full stop. That was promotional art for Zelda recruitment. I’m so tired of people using it as “proof” of a new fantasy project.
